The Four Heavenly Kings

The Hoodie Man series, titled "The Four Heavenly Kings," is also known as "Good Weather and Abundant Harvests."
The Four Heavenly Kings originate from the Twenty Devas of Brahmanism: Vaishravana, Dhritarashtra, Virudhaka, and Virupaksha. They govern the weather and ensure a bountiful harvest, protecting all living beings and ensuring their peace and prosperity. I was captivated by the traditional forms, colors, and details of the Four Heavenly Kings statues. After a long period of observation and contemplation, I suddenly sensed a connection between them and Hip-Hop culture. This dialogue and interaction between the two excited me.

Hip-Hop culture has played an indispensable role in my growth, influencing my creative concepts and attitude towards life. "Rap, street dance, DJing, and graffiti" are four forms of expression in hip-Hop culture. They are an expression of life, an attitude towards life, a pursuit of freedom and equality, and a venting of dissatisfaction and confusion.

I infused the hoodie man with the spirit and energy of the Four Heavenly Kings, imbued his skin with the colors of the Four Heavenly Kings, and incorporated details of Hip-Hop culture into his design, making them correspond one by one with the traditional statues of the Four Heavenly Kings.

Reshaping Freedom
- Dhritarashtra, the Eastern Heavenly King
The DJ's use of tempo and the controlled tension of the strings to create music allows everyone to rediscover the beauty of freedom. This should not be rushed, nor should it be excessive.

The Southern Growth King's rap uses attacking the opponent to express freedom, much like the swift sword cutting through tangled messes or the wise sword cutting through afflictions, thus increasing good roots and wisdom.

Freedom of the Soul – Western Virupaksha Street Dance expresses the loyalty and freedom of the soul through varied rhythmic movements, corresponding to the dragon and snake on Virupaksha's body. The dragon appears and disappears in the ever-changing world, but the original intention remains unchanged.

Creative Freedom – The Northern Heavenly King Vaisravana uses graffiti to create a free space and protect the purity of his heart, which complements Vaisravana's use of his umbrella to block external pollution and shield against the harm of demons.

Creating beautiful spaces to protect peace and harmony throughout the world.

The interaction and collision between traditional Chinese cultural elements and the development of Chinese street culture are reflected in many of my works, with "Good Weather and Abundant Harvests" being the one I consider to have the most ingenious integration. The strong visual impact allows people to feel the perfect combination of Eastern and Western cultures, and captures the point of convergence between traditional culture and modern spirit in terms of time and space.
