2022 U-Design Week Usee Trend Art and Design Exhibition

2022 U Design Week – More Than Just Design

From August 12th to 15th, I had the privilege of attending the "2022 U Design Week Usee Trend Art Design Exhibition" held by Alibaba at the Hangzhou International Expo Center.

In this era of pandemic, it's especially exciting to participate in such an event. The exhibition is divided into three main areas: Representative Chinese Power, Collector Brands, and Limited Edition Designs, covering all aspects of mass consumption.

Some of my sculptures were exhibited in the drivepro section. Due to the lack of a professional art installation team, the exhibited works were quite soiled, and one piece was even broken. I initially considered packing them up and not exhibiting them anymore, but then I realized it wasn't a professional art exhibition, so I just left them as is. I found that it was actually quite manageable!

The 2022 U Design Week created a limited-edition digital collectible – "What's up people-Umi," one of my new works. I also got the opportunity to share it on the main forum stage, and I planned to use those thirty minutes to share my creative story. It was a huge venue that could hold nearly four thousand people, and it felt pretty good to show off in front of so many people. Going on stage felt like stepping back into my university days, dancing on stage – I was a little excited. After I got on stage, I first taught the audience a street dance move, both a return to my old skills and a way to refresh everyone's spirits.

Using my "Hoodie Man" sculpture series as a backdrop, I recounted my personal growth and creative journey, sharing my works from the hoodie, moon, and snowflake series, as well as the commercial applications of my art. However, what I emphasized on-site was the experimental exhibition format—to reach a wider audience and allow my work to communicate with more people in diverse ways! I use my art to seek resonance, and I'm very happy to have gained so many friends through these pieces!
