SCARECROW
A sculptural expression of protection, nature, and hope during uncertain times.
SCARECROW is a work created by Huang Yulong during the pandemic, reflecting on the relationship between humanity and nature. The scarecrow originally stands in the fields, protecting crops and waiting for harvest. In this work, it is transformed into a symbol of protection, patience, and quiet resilience.
Within the context of the pandemic, the scarecrow is not only a guardian of the fields, but also a reflection of ordinary people who protected their families, friends, and loved ones during a difficult time. The work reminds us to stay true to our original intentions, to respect nature once again, and to look forward to the return of peaceful everyday life.
The figure’s open-arm posture suggests both guarding and embracing. Presented in white resin, the work carries a pure and calm visual presence, expressing reverence for nature, hope for recovery, and the quiet strength found in care and protection.
